Marking Four Years Since the Full Scale Invasion of Ukraine

February 24th, 2026 marks four years since the full scale invasion of Ukraine began. What has unfolded over these years is a prolonged conflict and humanitarian crisis affecting millions across the country. According to the World Health Organization, by early 2025 approximately 100,000 amputations have occurred in Ukraine as a result of the war, reflecting the scale of long term rehabilitation needs. Behind every number is a person navigating loss, recovery, and the challenge of rebuilding independence.

Since launching our Hands for Ukraine campaign in June 2023, over 180 Ukrainians have received Victoria Hand Project prosthetic arms. Through partnerships with Arol Plus in Lviv and the Vinnytsia State Prosthetic and Orthopedic Enterprise in Vinnytsia, we are ensuring that prosthetic care is immediate, sustainable, and locally supported. This model strengthens clinical capacity while restoring dignity and mobility to patients.

Our ongoing commitment extends beyond individual fittings. From Canada, our team continues to ship supplies, support volunteers assembling components, conduct upgrade training with partner clinics, and remain in direct communication with clinicians and beneficiaries. By strengthening local capacity, we are helping build sustainable rehabilitation systems that can support communities long term. Working with inspiring organizations, including the Ukrainian Canadian Cultural Society of Vancouver Island, Wunderfund, Help Ukraine Vancouver Island, and Ukrainian Canadian Social Services Inc of Canada, has strengthened our impact and helped us reach more individuals in need with care and compassion and a shared commitment to standing beside those rebuilding their lives.

We are deeply grateful to the donors, partners, and community members who have supported this work. Your generosity makes it possible to place innovative, affordable prosthetic devices into the hands of individuals rebuilding their lives. Four years on, our commitment remains steadfast: to restore mobility, independence, and help wherever it is needed most.
